How to add Doggy Time widgets to your home screen

Widgets let you log an activity or run a timer for your pet right from your home screen, without opening Doggy Time.

The widgets

  • Training Log shows your pet's first few activities and how long ago each was logged. Tap the + next to one to log it now. It's on iPhone and Android.
  • Timers runs a timer for one of your pet's activities, like a walk or a nap. It's on iPhone only.

The activities follow the order on your pet's Settings tab. To change which ones appear first, open your pet's Settings tab and drag the activities into the order you want.

Add a widget on iPhone

  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
  2. Tap Edit at the top, then tap Add Widget. On older versions of iOS, tap the + button instead.
  3. Search for "Doggy Time".
  4. Swipe to Training Log or Timers, then tap Add Widget.
  5. Tap Done.

Choose the pet or activity on iPhone

  1. Touch and hold the widget.
  2. Tap Edit Widget.
  3. For Training Log, choose the Pet. For Timers, choose the Activity, shown with your pet's name, for example "Max: Walk".
  4. Tap outside the widget to close it.

Only activities that have a timer appear in the Timers list.

Use the Timers widget

  • Tap the play button to start the timer.
  • Tap pause to stop it.
  • Once paused, tap the check mark to save the entry, the arrow to reset it, the trash can to delete it, or play to keep going.

See How to use timers.

Add a widget on Android

  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on your home screen.
  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. Find Doggy Time.
  4. Touch and hold Training Log, then drag it onto your home screen.
  5. Doggy Time opens Select a pet to display in this widget.
  6. Tap your pet, then tap Save.

To show a different pet, touch and hold the widget and choose the option to change its settings. If your phone doesn't offer one, remove the widget and add it again.

Premium

Widgets are part of Premium. Everyone on a Premium account can use them. Without Premium, the widget shows This is a premium feature. See What's free and what's in Premium.

Troubleshooting

  • "Long press and tap edit to select a pet." No pet is chosen yet. On iPhone, follow "Choose the pet or activity" above. On Android, remove the widget and add it again.
  • "This is a premium feature." Upgrade to Premium, then open Doggy Time once so the widget updates.
  • "No pets found. Add a pet." Add a pet in Doggy Time first, then add the widget again. See How to add a pet.
  • An activity I want isn't on the widget. Move it near the top on your pet's Settings tab.
  • The widget shows old times. Open Doggy Time so it can update the widget.
